Technoloy Evolution, Mental Degeneration

A recent discussion with my friend, a reading from The Readers and a passage from my professor's blog arouse an idea in my mind-technology growth today.

Since the technology advanced, no matter wherever we are, a mobile phone or laptop must follow. We shatter when those devices left us alone. These devices rises the magnitude of chatting with the others, magnitude of meeting new friends as well.

However, while our communicating quantity increases, inversely, the quality decreases. Because of the cost of texting goes down, we do a lot of texting which brings us a lot of craps. I have experienced to be asked what am I doing for more than a thousand times. Not only messaging, but also facebook, twitter. I have seen there are lots of people update their status in order to get sympathy, most of the replies are meaningless and contentless.( you never feel sympathetic even you receive those replies)

Therefore the problem is prominent. The mentioned tools pour a great amount of information to our brains every single day, we are no longer capable of solitude. I do believe we should have a time to be alone so we could think critically, individually. The replies on facebook shows there are lots of people who are losing out ability of thinking critically. Those tools make people's mind become more collective. Our daily discussion becomes limited such as the stupid video posted by someone on facebook.

We expected using this tool could help us comprehend the others more. However, It doesn't. Checking the others' facebook twitter status let us know nothing more than " I 'm waiting for the bus now", " Today weather sucks". We can ask ourselves in mind that how much do we know of our "friends". Our society are being comprised and preceded in this way. I'm wondering if nowadays marriage is breakable easier because of this.

But because they are famously used, who doesn't join this family will be considered as weird. Using too much technology bring us unnecessary madness. Some relatives get mad at me because I don't accept their friend request on facebook. Also, People like to put pictures on facebook to show how great they are doing, they gain happiness of being envied. It actually creates a competitive atmosphere between each other.
I have to give credit to Rika that,
"technology widen the mental gap between people"
